Declaration on barrier-free accessibility

(Status of the declaration: 6 November 2024)

The German Academic Association for Business Research (VHB) aims to make its website accessible in accordance with EU Directive 2016/2102 and the “Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz” (BFSG). Barrier-free means that information can also be read and operated by people with different disabilities. Among other things, we provide a clear website structure and use optimised contrasts. This makes information easier to find and to perceive.

The following declaration on barrier-free accessibility documents the implementation status in accordance with Section 9b NBGG and the relevant contact options.

What does this declaration apply to?

This accessibility statement applies to vhbonline.org and subdomains. Other websites and subdomains that were not created using the VHB content management system are excluded.

This website is partially compliant with EU Directive 2016/2102. Some parts of the content do not fully comply with the accessibility standard.

Preparation of this declaration on barrier-free accessibility

This declaration was created on 6 November 2024. The assessment is based on a self-assessment (based on WCAG and BITV).

The website is continuously reviewed by means of random checks.

Status of compliance with the requirements

This website is partially compliant with EU Directive 2016/2102. Some parts of the content do not fully comply with the accessibility standard.

We are working to fix the known issues as soon as possible.

The contents listed below are not barrier-free:

  • Links can sometimes be incomprehensible outside their context.
  • HTML structural elements (headings, paragraphs, highlighting are sometimes not applied correctly).
  • Words and sections of text may appear in another language and not be labelled accordingly.
  • Informative images and graphics sometimes lack alternatives or alternative texts.
  • Not all documents offered for download on the website are available in an accessible version.
  • Forms are not completely barrier-free (there are no sufficient references to incorrect completion of mandatory fields).

The contents listed are not barrier-free for the following reasons:

The VHB has an extensive website with numerous subpages that are maintained by many different editors. Errors in content design are therefore not entirely avoidable.

In some cases, the technical requirements for unrestricted accessible content design must first be created.
