Depending on your specialisation and individual needs, you can choose from two pillars in the range of courses offered:
- Cross-departmental methods courses, which either teach a broader portfolio of research methods or focus specifically on a particular research methodology.
- Department-specific courses, which focus on content and/or methodological research issues in the six departments of Accounting, Finance, Management, Marketing, Operations, or Business and Information Systems Engineering.
VHB-ProDok is primarily intended to complement the doctoral training in business administration at the respective universities in a targeted and individual manner. In addition, ProDok offers the possibility to complete a complete course of studies in order to acquire the necessary qualifications / ECTS on the way to a successful doctorate. For example, someone who needs to acquire 30 LP/ECTS can do so through ProDok.
The courses do not have to be taken one after the other. Instead, the ProDok offer forms meaningful groups of courses that should make it easier for doctoral students and their supervisors to choose from a broad catalogue of courses. The programme can thus also be seen as a recommendation for the heterogeneous development paths of young researchers in our discipline. ProDok is open to anyone interested in our discipline. The content of the individual courses can be found in the respective syllabi.
The courses are usually designed for 15-20 participants and are worth 6 CP/ECTS.
VHB-ProDok offers a complementary qualification at a high level with specialised courses in areas that are not or less strongly represented at its own university. The programme thus closes the gap between the sometimes broad range of courses offered by individual universities and universities that do not yet have sophisticated qualification programmes.
Access to VHB-ProDok is possible for all doctoral students in business administration and related disciplines across all universities and is therefore not restricted to the respective conditions and equipment of their own university. VHB-ProDok thus enables all doctoral candidates to receive a complete education at a high level.
Young academics can only be internationally successful if the competitiveness and mobility of early career researchers within the German-speaking university landscape is ensured. VHB-ProDok aims to support precisely this by supplementing and expanding the specialist and methodological training of our doctoral candidates with courses at an internationally competitive level.
