The VHB department for logistics management (WK Logistik) is addressing the support and advancement of logistics in scientific management research and university teaching. With their individual research and teaching profiles, more than 200 members of the WK Logistik represent the typical interdisciplinary character of logistics management – and this is relevant for all included micro- and macrological subsystems from warehousing operations to international and intermodal transportation.
The department objectives are advanced by holding regular scientific conferences (winter and summer conferences) where members of the department present and discuss research results as well as ideas for teaching, further education and industry cooperations. Since 1999, members of the commission have been organizing the large-scale Logistics Management Conference (LM), which takes place every two years instead of the department summer conference. This conference is aimed at all researchers and business managers interested in logistics beyond the department members themselves. The upcoming LM event in 2025 will take place at the Politecnico di Milano School of Management in Milan, Italy, from vom September 17 to19, 2025 (see: https://www.som.polimi.it/event/lm-2025-conference).
