Strategic Management

Strategic management, as an independent sub-discipline of business administration, deals with the generation and defense of competitive and corporate advantages, the processes for planning and implementing these advantages, and the effects of these advantages (and disadvantages) on the success and further development of companies. Strategic management takes a comprehensive perspective that integrates various business functions. It draws on a broad spectrum of theoretical perspectives - from microeconomically influenced theories to behavioral approaches and institutional economics foundations. Important subfields of strategic management, which has itself already experienced advanced subspecialization, include corporate strategy, competitive strategy, cooperation strategy, and strategy processes.
