HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management / Marketing Management /Junior Professorship

APPLICATION DEADLINE: DECEMBER 31, 2023

We invite applications for a

Junior Professorship in Marketing Management

(Assistant Professor rank, tenure track, all genders, application deadline: December 31, 2023)

The new tenure track Junior (or: Assistant) Professor is expected to strengthen the profile of HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management, especially in the field of Marketing. While the candidate should hold a holistic view of marketing and its management, we welcome applications from all areas of marketing (e.g., Marketing Strategy, Quantitative Marketing, Consumer Behavior, Sustainability Marketing) and closely related fields.

We seek candidates who are committed to excellence in research, teaching, and knowledge transfer.

  • Research: As a research-oriented university-level business school, HHL seeks scholars that share its focus on excellent, managerially relevant, and internationally recognized research. The candidate has started to develop a track record of high-quality research in leading international marketing journals and aims to further develop this research profile. Participation in conferences and a developing international research network are assets.
  • Teaching: HHL has a reputation for outstanding teaching and has a very international student body at a graduate level. The candidate should show strong evidence of teaching excellence in the area of marketing. Teaching approaches should combine multiple methods for face-to-face, digital and hybrid teaching, and follow a research-induced teaching style. As HHL teaches exclusively in English, fluency in English is required. Experience in teaching in a business school context and non-academic work experience are assets, but not prerequisites.
  • Knowledge transfer: HHL aims to matter not only in the scientific community but to companies and society at large. The candidate shows a willingness to engage and ideally a track record in knowledge transfer activities (e.g., third-party funded projects, managerial publications, company cooperations, media coverage)

As a member of the HHL faculty, the successful candidate will be integrated into an open, international, and mutually supportive working environment. Leipzig is a vibrant, centrally located (e.g., one-hour train ride from Berlin), and very international city with over 30.000 students. It is the fastest-growing city in Germany and multiple studies have confirmed a very high standard of living for people of all ages, backgrounds, and family situations. The advertised role is an outstanding opportunity for a candidate that holistically covers and aims to further develop high competencies in research, teaching, and knowledge transfer.

HHL has set a priority of increasing the number of international scholars among its faculty. It actively pursues a policy of diversity and gender equality in all areas of its activities (e.g., possible extension of the tenure process for parental leave, possibility to block teaching schedules). Applications from candidates with an interdisciplinary background are encouraged. Candidates must hold a doctoral (or Ph.D.) degree from a leading international university or business school (or be very near completion). The requirements of § 64 SächsHSG apply. The tenure track to full professor is based upon a criteria-based intermediary evaluation (after 3-4 years) and a final evaluation (latest after 6 years).

Interested candidates for this tenure-track Junior (or: Assistant) Professorship should submit their application to berufungen@hhl.de, attn. to the Dean Prof. Dr. Tobias Dauth. The application should include a motivation letter, CV, a teaching statement including evidence of teaching effectiveness (e.g., student evaluations or teaching prices), a research statement including a list of publications and the current research pipeline, an overview of knowledge transfer activities, and at least one reference. We intend the successful candidate to assume the role latest in Q3 2024. The application deadline is December 31, 2023.

We are looking forward to getting to know you!
