as soon as possible
24 months (with an option of extension)
Who we are:
We are a young, dynamic team working in the field of Business Analytics in the intersection of business administration (“BWL”), operations research, and computer science. We develop data-driven decision support methods for innovative applications in transport, logistics, and mobility. We are particularly interested in integrating complex information in the decision methods using both mathematical modeling and machine learning. We are well-connected worldwide and leading in our research field.
Who we are looking for:
You hold an at least good Master’s/Diploma degree in business administration, mathematics, industrial engineering, business information systems, computer science, or related areas. You already have profound knowledge in one or more of the areas of Business Analytics and are interested in learning more about the others. Ideally, you have experience in programming (or are eager to learn it), e.g., with Python, Java, or C. You have the required language skills to communicate your research in English. You are interested in working in an interdisciplinary team in Magdeburg and with international researchers all over the world. Furthermore, you have good analytical skills, you are a team player who can also work independently, and you like solving problems and analyze solutions.
What your tasks are:
You work in a team on a long-term, DFG-funded research project on data-driven decision support for urban mobility and logistics in cooperation with researchers from GeorgiaTech. You will approach new and challenging problems from the field of instant delivery, shared mobility, or mobility-on-demand. You will design and evaluate quantitative solution strategies via computational experiments. You will publish your work in international journals and present it on international conferences. You will also contribute to the chair’s organization and teaching, e.g., by supervising student theses.
We are very much looking forward to your application!
