Call for Papers: European Symposium on Sustainability in Business Education, Research and Practices
Call for Papers: "European Symposium on Sustainability in Business Education, Research and Practices", Liverpool, UK, 23rd-24th February 2023
Many business schools are trying to adapt and appeal to students' and recruiters' demands to embrace social values
and sustainability. At present, more and more business schools are integrating sustainability as a whole, and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in particular, into their core courses and MBA programmes, helping their graduates to become even more attractive to employers.
Whereas integrating sustainability across all core business teachings is a logical step for impact-based business schools,
it is unclear how best should this work be undertaken, and which approaches, methods and strategies may yield the highest impact. It is on the basis to address this perceived need, and to foster a dialogue among providers -and users- of business education, that the Symposium "Sustainability in Business Education, Research and Practices" is being organised by the European School of Sustainability Science and Research (ESSSR) https://esssr.eu/, the Inter-University Sustainable Development Research Programme https://www.haw-hamburg.de/en/ftz-nk/programmes/iusdrp/ and the UK Consortium for Sustainability Research (UK-CSR) https://www.mmu.ac.uk/research/research-centres/ecology-environment/groups/zero-carbon-sustainable-futures/UK-CSR.
The Symposium will serve the purpuse of discussing how sustainability may be incorporated in business education, in the research programmes of business schools, and in business practice as a whole. It is part of the "Accelerating the Implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals Series", with events aimed at fostering the implementation of the UN SDGs.
The "European Symposium on Sustainability in Business Education, Research and Practices" will be held in Liverpool, UK, on 23rd-24th February 2023. It is hosted by the Liverpool Business School, at Liverpool John Moores University. It is primarily aimed at European participants, but delegates from other parts of the world are also welcome to attend it, and use this unique opportunity to document and disseminate their work.
As an output and long-term documentation of the event, selected papers will be published in the book "Sustainability in Business Education, Research and Practices", which will follow on the success of the "Encyclopedia of Sustainability in Higher Education" https://link.springer.com/referencework/10.1007/978-3-319-63951-2 which is a "living edition" and the "Encyclopedia of the UN Sustainable Development Goals" (https://www.springer.com/series/15893), the world´s largest editorial project on sustainable development ever undertaken.
Expressions of interest to attend the event, initially consisting of a 200 words abstract outlining the paper and with the full contact details of the author(s) should be sent to the IUSDRP team at: email@example.com. The deadline for submission of abstracts is 10th October 2022. Full papers are due by 10th February 2022. The details will be discussed with the selected authors.
