Methods of Interviewing

This workshop introduces to the methodological foundations and the practical application of qualitative interviews. The workshop includes inputs by the workshop instructors in the form of practical exercises and lectures and promotes the application of the contents in the participant´s research projects.

This course addresses young scholars of business administration, who want to apply qualitative interviews in their research project. General aim of this course is the communication of theoretical and practical basics concerning the development, conduct and analysis of qualitative interviews in management research.

More precisely, we will focus on the following topics:

  • Classifying qualitative interviews as a method of data collection against the background of different ontologies
  • Objectives and purposes of qualitative interviews
  • Planning, conduct and follow-up of interviews
  • Analyzing and crafting qualitative studies based on interview data
