The annual business researcher conference, which takes place the week after Whitsun, has a long tradition as the association’s Whitsun Conference; it has been held in this form since 1924. The conference serves as an opportunity for an academic dialogue, a discussion on issues concerning business research and university policy, and a personal get-together among the association members.

The Whitsun Conference’s special programme comprises three areas. Besides the general theme of the conference, to which the local organisation team invites high-calibre speakers from Germany and abroad, the conference offers researchers an opportunity to present their knowhow from all walks of business research. Quality control is guaranteed by a programme commission that changes every year and is responsible for arranging the programme for the papers in question.

The programme is supplemented with VHB Board events on current academic and university-relevant topics and conference and association award ceremonies.

The Whitsun Conference is the only business research conference that covers all areas of the topic and unites German-language business research.

Besides the members who attend the Whitsun Conference for “reasons of tradition”, it is also of interest to young researchers and active full professors who are interested in interdisciplinary networking, university-relevant developments and developing the subject as a whole.

The concerns of junior researchers are particularly accommodated by offering a preconference in the run-up to the conference and a wide range of events during the conference that are specifically geared towards young researchers as a target group.
