The Institute for Human Resource Management is currently inviting applications for two 30 hours/week Project Staff Member positions (pre-doc, employee subject to the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement for University Staff - Angestellte/r gemäß Kollektivvertrag für die Arbeitnehmer/innen der Universitäten). Minimum gross monthly salary, paid 14 times per year: Euro 2,071.- (recognition of previous employment - if relevant to the advertised position - possible). This employee position will be limited to a period of 3 years, starting on October 15, 2017 (commencement date subject to change).

Responsibilities:
You will be part of an international research team working on an Austrian Research Council (FWF) funded project called "Comparative Green HRM". Green HRM combines HRM with environmental management in order to foster employees' green behavior at work. There is still a scarc¡ty of research in Green HRM, espec¡ally regarding the team level and its paradoxical interaction with other levels (e.g. country, industry, individual). Using a multi-method research design, the aim of our research ¡s to investigate Green HRM on different levels with a special focus on the individual and team levels as well as paradoxes arising from the interaction of different levels. By examining these and similar tensions together with corresponding coping strateg¡es, we hope to assist in overcoming barriers of building greener organizations.The project will be conducted in four countries (Austria, Germany, US, UK) and you will be responsible for the data collection. Your activities will be amongst others conducting interviews/document analyses/ online surveys, supporting the project organization and contributing to academic papers.You will enroll in WU's PhD/doctoral program and will be able to write your thesis within the scope of the project. Your Profile:

  • Excellent master's degree or equivalent in human resource management or a related field (business administration, social sciences, psychology)
  • Profound knowledge of qualitative research methods (e.g. applied thematic analysis/Mayring/Grounded Theory and the use of software such as NVivo)
  • A very good written and oral command of the English language
  • A very good written and oral command of the German language is required for one of the positions and beneficial for the other
  • A quick learner, team player, great sense of responsibility and conscientiousness - Beneficial are skills/knowledge in:

    • Quantitative research methods (e.g. advanced statistics and the use of software such as SPSS, MPlus)
    • Green HRM, Green behavior, Environmental Management, ecological sustainability, institutional/neoinstitutionaI theory (paradoxes)
    • Case study design, multi methods, comparative research o Publishing experience and academic writing skills
    • Any relation to the US/UK
